Artist of the Month 

Michelle Phillips is proudly hosted as San Luis Valley Museum's Monthly Local.

This exhibition, composed of pencil & charcoal works, was amassed over a period of more than 20 years, and features various portraits. 

​

This collection is , by the very nature of a portraits' composition, remarkably personal. Both striking and understated, this collection invites the viewer to take an intimate look at a stranger, while at the same time igniting a recognition of someone hauntingly familiar. 

​

As the wife of the late and cherished " Music Man of Alamosa", Bob Phillips, Michelle affectionately offers that Bob was her, " ...most honest and trusted critic" throughout her years of artistic work, and this collection being made public is dedicated to his memory.

The exhibition, entitled 'SEMBLANCE', is available for public viewing at the museum throughout the entire month of March. In addition, an Artists Reception / Meet the Artist Event will be held on Saturday, March 21st from 6-8pm.
